Teen with provisional license caught driving 126 mph in Carpinteria

CARPINTERIA, Calif. - California Highway Patrol stopped a car speeding over 100 mph late Tuesday night. 

A CHP officer stopped an Audi TT for speeding at 126 mph on a 65 mph road on the US 101 southbound. 

The driver was a 16-year-old girl and her passenger was her 16-year-old sister. The driver had only a provisional license. 

The driver was cited and both juveniles were released to their parents.
