Motorcyclist killed in crash on Highway 46 in Paso Robles

PASO ROBLES, Calif. - A motorcyclist was killed in a collision on Highway 46 in Paso Robles Friday afternoon.

At around 1:45 p.m., a man riding a Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling on Highway 46 and collided with a Toyota SUV near Hunter Ranch Golf Course.

The 68-year-old motorcyclist from Atascadero suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. His name will be released pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the Toyota was uninjured.

The crash is under investigation but it does not appear that drugs or alcohol played a factor.

Paso Robles police say witnesses reported that the SUV crossed Highway 46 into the westbound lanes after pulling out from the golf course, directly into the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle collided with the rear of the SUV and the rider was thrown onto the highway where he was later pronounced dead.

It's unclear at this time if anyone in the other vehicle was injured.
