Oxnard man struck and killed by truck while crossing street

Investigation into crash is ongoing

OXNARD, Calif. - Update: A man hit by a car while crossing the street in Oxnard has died.


According to the Oxnard Police Department, 41-year-old Jose Luis Gonzalez-Roldan succumbed to his injuries despite lifesaving efforts. He was struck Thursday evening while crossing Cooper Road at Grant Avenue.


The Oxnard Police department was notified about Gonzalez-Roldan's passing Friday, police said.


The investigation into the collision is on-going.


A man is in critical condition after he was hit by a car while crossing the street in Oxnard.


According to the Oxnard Police Department, it happened just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday when a 41-year-old man was crossing Cooper Road at Grant Avenue. That's when a 53-year-old Oxnard resident was traveling westbound on Cooper Road in his 1993 gold Chevy pickup truck and collided with the pedestrian. 


The victim suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Ventura County Medical Center. He's currently listed in critical condition.


The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. It is unknown is alcohol or drugs were involved. The collision is still under investigation.
