SUMMERLAND, Calif. - One person is dead following a two-car crash in Summerland that slowed northbound traffic on Highway 101 through Carpinteria Monday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened around 8:30 a.m. on the northbound side of Highway 101 near the Evans Avenue exit when a man crashed his car into the vehicle in front of him. The man reportedly was having a medical emergency which led to the minor car accident. Paramedics arrived on scene but were unable to revive the man and he was declared dead on scene.
The crash involved a black Kia sedan and a gray Volkswagon SUV. It is unclear which vehicle the deceased man was driving at the time.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
