UC SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UCSB began preparing for what they hope is a special men's soccer season.
The Gauchos have a new practice field and they used it during a morning and afternoon training session.
UCSB plays under the lights on Saturday, August 18th against cross-town rival Westmont in their annual exhibition contest with the Warriors.
The Gauchos return almost all of their starters from last year and they have added several talented players including head coach Tim Vom Steeg's son, Carson Vom Steeg. He transferred in from Stanford after helping the Cardinal win a National Championship last year. The center back hurt his ankle over the summer playing with the VC Fusion and did not practice with his new teammates.
UCSB hosts the College Cup in December so the national semifinals and final will be played at Harder Stadium for the second time.
