ANAHEIM, Calif. - Trailing by six points with just five minutes to play, UCSB outscored Cal State Northridge 14-5 the rest of the way to win 71-68 to advance to the semifinals of the Big West Tournament.
Graduate transfer Ar'mond Davis keyed the late run with a three-pointer, a steal and a lay up. He finished with a team-high 19 points.
Max Heidegger made just one of nine field goal attempts but he made all four of his free throws late in the game and UCSB led by three with 16 seconds left.
Terrell Gomez missed a three-pointer with 3 seconds left and the Gauchos advance in the tournament.
Freshman Amadou Sow had 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Gauchos who improve to 22-9 on the season.
UCSB will play Cal State Fullerton at 9 p.m. on Friday.
