Dons clinch at least a tie for Channel League title

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Santa Barbara took advantage of several early San Marcos errors to beat the Royals 9-5 to earn at least a share of the Channel League title.

The Dons are 10-2 in league and have three more wins than both Dos Pueblos and Lompoc with 3 league games left.

Santa Barbara built up a 5-1 lead after three innings despite having just one rbi, a ground-rule double by Bryce Warrecker that scored Anthony Firestone. The Dons scored three of those runs on errors and the other run on a wild pitch.

Same two teams will meet Thursday, April 18 at San Marcos.

Before the game 96-year old Roke Fukumura threw out the first pitch. He is a 1941 Dons graduate and played shortstop on the 1941 team that won a CIF championship.
