Carson Vom Steeg joins UCSB Soccer team

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - He won a national title as a freshman with Stanford last year, now Carson Vom Steeg has come home to play for his dad and the UCSB men's soccer team.

The center back played in 18 games last year with the Cardinal as a freshman and got into the national championship game.

He joins a talented UCSB team that brings almost all of their starters back.

Tim Vom Steeg will be entering his 20th season as head coach at UCSB and it will not be hard to motivate his Gauchos this year. The university is hosting the College Cup in December as the national semifinals and final will be played at Harder Stadium.

UCSB begins training camp on August 8th.

This will be Tim Vom Steeg's second son to play for him at UCSB.

Justin Vom Steeg was a goal keeper on the 2015 Gauchos that advanced to the round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament. Justin is now a reserve keeper on the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer.
