OXNARD, Calif. - Oxnard Police arrested a Ventura man for animal cruelty on Friday, Feb. 22.
Officers were called to the 1000 block of Yarnell Place at approximately 3 p.m. for possible cruelty to an animal that happened on Feb. 18.
Police reviewed surveillance cameras in the area and were able to identify Eric Danielson, 37, and another man using a hunting bow in an alley between two business buildings.
Officers say Danielson appears to shoot the arrow in the surveillance video before the two men walked out of frame, shortly reappearing with Danielson holding a dead cat.
Police say he later got rid of the cat in a nearby dumpster.
Danielson admitted to police that he had shot and killed the cat. He said that he had tracked the cat with his bow but did not mean to shoot it.
Police arrested Danielson on a felony charge before he bailed out on a $10,000 bond.
