Man arrested for deadly shooting at Oxnard home

OXNARD, Calif. - An Oxnard man is under arrest for the shooting and killing of another man in an Oxnard home. 

Police were called to the 1000 block of Berkshire Street at around 11:30 Friday night. They said they received a report that someone had been shot. 

Police said it was the second call for service at the location. 

Officers found a 40-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his chest, and they began lifesaving measures but were not successful. They say the man died at the scene. 

Witnesses inside the house identified the shooter as 43-year-old Jaime Villarreal.

Officers arrested Villarreal and booked him on suspicion of murder on $500,000 bail, according to the Oxnard Police Department.
