VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. - Five drivers in Ventura County were cited as part of a recent statewide Disabled Person Parking Placard Enforcement operation.
Investigators with the DMV caught 145 people misusing the placards during 19 enforcement operations across California last month.
On Monday, the DMV released the results of those operations and said five drivers were cited in Oxnard and Ventura. 72 drivers were contacted in the area, in order to verify that they were using their disabled person parking placards properly.
The DMV says investigators confiscated the placards that were being misused, and the people who were caught could face fines ranging from $250 to $1,000.
The DMV holds up to 24 of these enforcement operations each month throughout the state.
If you believe someone is misusing a disabled person placard, you can report it through an online complaint form or by contacting a local DMV Investigations office.
