Search dogs trained in Santa Paula deployed for Hurricane Dorian relief efforts

SANTA PAULA, Calif. - The Search Dog Foundation has deployed 12 Search Dog teams to the Eastern seaboard to help where needed after Hurricane Dorian

The foundation's training center is in Santa Paula and the majority of the dogs were trained there.

The majority of them are former shelter dogs, according to the Search Dog Foundation.

They are now ready to help communities affected by Hurricane Dorian.

The search dog teams are based in California, Florida and New York.

Meteorologists say there will continue to be intense winds, storm surge and rainfall, which could cause significant damage.
