Santa Maria Valley Humane Society offers free cat adoptions

June is "National Adopt-a-Cat-Month"

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - In honor of National Adopt-a-Cat Month, the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society has announced it will waive all fees to adopt any adult cat during the month of June.

All Santa Maria Valley Humane Society cats have been examined by the shelter veterinarian, spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, and micro-chipped.

All pets adopted will go home with a free bag of PurinaPlan cat food and a voucher for a free health exam from a participating area private practice veterinarian.

"Shelters are typically filled to capacity with fantastic felines all summer long," said Sean Hawkins, Executive Director for Santa Maria Valley Humane Society. "Our hope is we can place even more cats into loving homes during this critical time, making room for more lives to be saved when we transfer cats from high-euthanasia areas like Los Angeles."

All adoptable cats can be found at: www.smvhs.org/adopt-a-cat

Adoption Locations:

  • Edwin and Jeanne Woods Animal Care Complex at 1687 West Stowell Road
  • Petco at 615 E. Betteravia Avenue
  • Petsmart at 2306 S. Bradley Road
