SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Santa Maria Mayor Alice Patino is teaming up with the Downtown Fridays organizers to honor five local swimmers.
The event is set to happen on August 23 at the Downtown Fridays event at Santa Maria Town Center West.
The five athletes are all part of the Santa Maria Swim Club.
19-year-old Wyatt Marsalek, 19-year-old Marcos Hillje-Enthoven, 18-year-old Keshaun Patel, 17-year-old Blake Simpson, and 15-year-old Parker Reynolds all finished in the top 20 in the Men's 1500 Freestyle at the Futures regional meet.
Parker Reynolds qualified for the Olympic Trials in that race and Blake Simpson narrowly missed the cut.
Reynolds qualified again in the Men's 800 Freestyle.
Reynolds and Simpson also competed at the USA Junior Nationals at Stanford.
Simpson finished 23rd in the Men's 1500 and Reynolds finished 16th in the 400 Freestyle.
