SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office identified a San Luis Obispo woman who was killed in a crash near Goleta.
On Wednesday, the sheriff's office said Allyson Buist, 35, was killed in the crash last week.
It happened on September 10 around 1:35 p.m. on Highway 101 at Las Varas Canyon Road.
Investigators say a Ford F-350 was making a left turn onto the highway when it was struck by a silver Toyota Tundra traveling southbound.
CHP says Allyson's husband, Austin Buist, 35, of San Luis Obispo was driving the Toyota. Officers say Garrett Staab, 33, of Tucson, Arizona was driving the Ford F-350 and made an unsafe turn. They say Buist tried to avoid the collision by turning to the right, but the two vehicles still collided and landed about 20 feet off the roadway.
Five people were involved in the crash, including the Buist's four-month-old baby boy. The CHP's initial report said he was not injured.
Allyson Buist died of her injuries five days after the crash.
CHP says alcohol or drugs were not a factor in this collision.
The collision is still under investigation.
A GoFundMe was set up to help the Buist family in the wake of the crash. It has already raised more than $27,000.
