Santa Barbara-based magazine shutting down after losing funding

Pacific Standard launched in 2008

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A Santa Barbara-based magazine has lost its funding and is shutting down next Friday.

The Pacific Standard's editor in chief Nicholas Jackson made the announcement on Twitter Wednesday.

Jackson says Pacific Standard's primary funder is cutting off all donations and the board decided to shut the magazine down as a result. 

Pacific Standard launched in 2008.

The magazine has reported on social, economic and environmental justice issues all over the world.
