Woman identified after deadly head-on collision in Carpinteria

CARPINTERIA, Calif. - UPDATE: 9:45 A.M. 4/22/19

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office has identified the woman killed in Saturday's crash as 54-year-old Marth Ramos Quintana of Oxnard.

The investigation into the accident invloving two vehicles in Carpinteria remains under investigation.


UPDATE: 6:15 P.M. 4/20/2019

The collision involved a white Nissan NV200 panel van and a silver Toyota Sienna.

The Nissan was traveling westbound and the Toyota eastbound, when for an unknown reason the Nissan crossed over the center line and collided head-on into the Toyota. 

The Toyota was occupied by a Montecito family with two teenaged sons. 

They are currently recovering from their injuries.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Major Accident Response Team is investigating this accident to determine the cause.

According to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office, one woman has died in a fatal head-on collision in Carpinteria early Saturday morning. 

The accident involved a white utility van with two passengers and a four-door sedan with 4 passengers at around 6:30 a.m. at Carpinteria Avenue and Bailard Avenue.

The female passenger in the van was pronounced dead at the scene.

The five other victims involved were all transported to a nearby hospital and are expected to survive their injuries.

The identity of the woman killed in the accident has not been released.
