SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Santa Barbara's main downtown gathering place, De La Guerra Plaza is going to get a new look.  What it will become is still to be decided.

The Santa Barbara City Council has supported preliminary designs to see what could be possible on the plaza footprint, and that could include De La Guerra Street and Storke Placita.

Those who have made suggestions are hoping to see several changes including, more tables, chairs, music, art, movies and possibly the Farmers' Market.

The farmers came out to weigh in on the plan and many say the site, even if it was reconfigured would not be the right fit for them.

There's a possibility the market will be moved if the Cota Street parking lot where it is located is the preferred site for the new police headquarters.

That's not a done deal even though other sites have been ruled out so far.

The council suggested another look at city sites for a new police station to see if other locations can still be workable.  Until now the list has been very short with the Cota Street site appearing to be preferable.
