GOLETA, Calif. - Construction crews working at the site of the old Kmart building in Goleta were evacuated Tuesday morning due to a gas leak.
The building is located on the 6800 block of Hollister Avenue. It is currently under renovation as construction crews convert the space for a new Target store.
According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, a two-inch gas line was ruptured during construction work.
Construction worker were evacuated and people in nearby buildings were ordered to shelter in place while the gas company headed to the scene.
No injuries were reported.
