SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A formal memorial for the victims of the dive boat Conception fire was held in Santa Barbara Friday night.
The vigil for the 34 victims of the Santa Cruz Island tragedy took place at 6:30 p.m. at Chase Palm Park at 323 E. Cabrillo Boulevard.
The Friday vigil happened as investigators continued to scour the wreckage site at the Channel Islands for the one remaining missing victim and clues to what may have sparked the deadly fire.
Representatives from the Community Wellness Team, the dive community, and chaplains from the faith community offered words of condolences and support.
The event was organized by the City of Santa Barbara, Community Wellness Team, the Institute for Collective Trauma and Growth, and other organizations and volunteers.
