SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Firefighters say no injuries were reported after a gas main break in Santa Barbara Monday, which prompted evacuations.
It happened in the 200 block of Cottage Grove Avenue just before 11 a.m.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and found a two-inch gas main that was broken and leaking.
Firefighters tell KEYT a construction crew had been working in the area when they somehow broke the line. They then called the fire department to report the issue.
Crews shut down the entire block, and at least 15 people were evacuated temporarily. Others were told to shelter in place, but those orders were lifted a short time later.
