ATASCADERO, Calif. - The San Luis Obispo County Clerk-Recorder is scaling back its operation at an office in Atascadero.
Clerk-Recorder Tommy Gong says the North County office will now be open on just Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The decision was made to reflect how busy the office is right now.
“We are making an effort to keep it open two days a week, so we can continue to serve the public what has been a convenience for the area’s residents,” said Gong.
A review of the department revealed the North County office generates 2.2% of the overall revenue of the department at the expense of almost 10% of staffing levels.
The decision to scale back operations comes as two positions in the San Luis Obispo office are being transferred to the administration department.
The Clerk-Recorder's office plans to keep its North County office open five days a week in the weeks preceding an election.
Gong says he plans to monitor how the changes affect customer activity and will make adjustments as needed.
