SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Santa Barbara City Fire Department quickly located the source of smoke at the Fess Park Doubletree Resort by Hilton Thursday night.
Multiple engines were called out about 7:10 p.m. including the large extension ladder truck that was stretched out to the top of the landmark structure on Cabrillo Boulevard.
The assignment of engines lined the inner parking area of the hotel valet zone and firefighters began inspecting sources for the problem.
It was determined to be a heating, ventilation and air conditioning unit (HVAC) on the roof.
No guests were displaced by the incident.
The parking lot remained open.
Fire crews were on the scene for more than an hour to inspect the problem and look for any extension.
