Dozen-plus businesses team up to build tourism in Los Alamos
LOS ALAMOS, Calif. -
Steve Soderquist remembers when Los Alamos had only one gas station forty years ago.
All these years later, he still loves his town.
“The small town community and the friends and neighbors working together for their town and its growth and success,” said Soderquist.
Los Alamos has grown into a gem for tourists with wineries, antique stores and fine dining restaurants.
Now a group of businesses are forming a new coalition.
The group includes Pico Restaurant, Bob's Well Bread Bakery and Full of Life Flat Bread.
Will Henry owns Pico Restaurant.
His new group wants to promote Los Alamos while still sharing the friendly atmosphere with visitors who come by.
“A lot of people in Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego drive by, and they don't realize there is this cool place with amazing food and wine-tasting,” Henry said.
During the next several months the group will be working on several ideas.
One of the biggest projects the members will working on is the upcoming Taste of the Santa Ynez Valley.
Another major townwide event is the 72nd Old Days Celebration which is expected to draw in hundreds of tourists over three days.
Henry hopes all Los Alamos businesses will be successful while expanding the town's events at the same time.
