SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The one time landmark  beach front Miramar Hotel in Montecito, dark for 18 years is coming back to life.

For most of the difficult design, review, ownership and development hurdles the site was an array of worn out buildings that were painful to look at compared to the iconic blue-roofed site the classic Miramar had been for decades.

The  partnership between developer Rick Caruso and Rosewood hotels that began with a ground breaking two years ago is becoming a reality in just under four months.

Rosewood's Sharon Cabral who is in the Sales department is thrilled with the opportunity to now lock down some bookings.  "Yes absolutely, our doors open January 7th it has been a long time coming. We are very excited. The hotel is going to be absolutely magnificent the resort is going to be stunning."

Hiring has begun for 367 positions.

The first big job fair took place at the Carrillo Recreation center in Santa Barbara.

Applicants could fill out details on line or in person, bring a resume and sit with a human resources staff members for an interview.

The Vice President of  Human Resources for Rosewood, Jacqueline Pucci said, there will be a combination of jobs to fill across the board.  "We have everything from hourly positions, rooms, food and beverage, spa, engineering you name it - sales and marketing "

Many applicants were clearly ready to work. "I'm pretty excited to see this. This one is looking gorgeous," said Michelle Majors.

Hotel executives said local residents or existing hospitality workers will be an asset.

"So it is very important for us as a company that we have experts that know this area and relay that to our guests," said Pucci.

One applicant said she could be just that person.

"I think I am more concierge I like to pay attention to details and make sure they get what they came for," said Magers.

The Miramar will have 161 rooms. 37 of them will be suites.

There will also be a spa, several dining areas,  and a ballroom for 400 that will be available for special events.

While the hiring is going on,  the resort is  now booking rooms and  events that it can put on the calendar after the first of the year.

"We are accepting individual reservations as of January 7th at Rosewood Also events, groups, weddings birthday parties and special events."

Along with the front of the property construction you can see from Highway 101 going up,   the ocean side buildings on this scenic section of Miramar beach are also in the final stages.
