GOLETA, Calif. - Breakfast is served back again at Alphie's Restaurant in Goleta after being closed for 5 months due to a grease fire back in January.
"It's been really great, a lot of our loyal regular customers have been coming in," said Albert Tagatac, the manager at Alphie's.
One customer says that she has been coming to Alphie's for over 30 years and is excited to have it back open.
Santa Barbara County Fire responded to a kitchen fire at Alphie's back on January 14. Fire officials say the fire was knocked out in 5 minutes and no one was injured.
Tagatac says the restaurant suffered fire damage to the kitchen and the dining area due to a grease fire that happened after hours but says that the accident was a blessing in disguise.
"It was all worth it, we did a lot of major remodeling," said Tagatac. "A brand new counter. It was worth the wait. It was a little longer than we expected. The family and the customers are very happy with what we remodeled here."
The manager says another significant addition to the diner is the installation of WIFI for customers.
The diner is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily at 5725 Hollister Ave Goleta, CA 93117.
