Four local kids advance to the Jr. NBA Skills Challenge regional competition

SANTA MARIA, Calif.-- - Four young basketball players from Santa Maria, are headed to Los Angeles to compete in the regional Jr. NBA Skills Challenge Competition.

Yuridia Ramos, Ramon Cota, Charlotte Peterson, and Gabe Cordero, are all local Champions from the Santa Maria Jr. NBA Skills Challenge that was held on January 20, 2019.

Regionals will take place on April 20, 2019, and the winners will advance to the national finals that will be held in New York during the NBA draft, according to Recreations and Parks management. 

The competition is free for all participants and organizations and allows boys and girls ages 13 and younger to showcase their skills of dribbling, shooting and rebounding while playing basketball, said management. 

According to Parks and Recreation management, the Jr. NBA Skills Challenge is the official basketball skills competition of National Basketball Association.
