Santa Barbara County Fire increases staffing due to potential fire weather

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - The Santa Barbara County Fire Department is adding staff over the weekend due to potential for fire weather.

Beginning Friday night and ending Monday morning, Santa Barbara County Fire Department will have additional staff on engines and dozers.

The extra staffing comes at the same time the Southern California Edison warned customers in Goleta and near Highway 154 about possible emergency power shut offs. The warning came as a forecast showed indications of possible sundowner winds and high temperatures.

SCE has since stated the 'Noleta' area is not longer under consideration for a shutoff. The area between Dos Pueblos Canyon Road and Gaviota and along Refugio Road and Highway 101 north of Goleta is still under consideration.
