Back-to-School traffic enforcement

ORCUTT, Calif. - It's the first day of school for student, parents and teachers in the Orcutt Union School District. To keep everyone safe as they head back-to-school the California Highway Patrol will have special patrols near city campuses.

The CHP will be looking for motorists not abiding by the reduced speed limit in school zones when children are present, typically 25 mph. Officer will also be watching pedestrian crosswalks and reminding walkers and drivers that cell phone use is not allowed.

Other local law enforcement agencies are also stepping up traffic safety patrols before and after school as students return form summer break.

The Orcutt Union School District has about 5,000 students returning to its ten school sites on Wednesday.
