Driver survives a close call with a parked semi truck on Highway 101 near Summerland

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - The driver of a gray Pontiac Grand Am survives a close call with a parked semi truck on Highway 101 south near the Sheffield drive off-ramp.

The crash happened just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol incident website page.

The driver reportedly crashed into a big rig that was parked in the emergency overnight parking on the right shoulder of the highway.

There was another car involved in the crash, it's unclear to what extent. It was pulled over in the break-down lane next to the center divider. The back right tire had significant damage.

The front of the Pontiac Grand Am was completely lodged underneath the back end of the semi truck.

No lanes were closed, but the crash did block part of the slow lane.

The cause of the crash is unclear, the driver did remain on scene and was cooperating with authorities.

No injuries were reported.

A tow truck was called in to remove the car from underneath the truck, around 1:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.
