Ventura man sentenced to 75 years for raping teen girl

VENTURA, Calif. - A Ventura man who was convicted of raping a teen girl was sentenced to 75 years in prison.

Daniel Lee Luna, 41, of Ventura was sentenced to 75 years and 4 months in prison for multiple sex crimes against the victim.

On Aug. 5, Luna was found guilty of eight counts of forcible rape, three counts of oral copulation of a person under 16, one count of sexual penetration of a person under 16, and one count of lewd act upon a child. The victim was a minor who was over the age of 14 at the time of the rape offenses.

Over several months in 2018, Luna took the minor victim back to his apartment and made her ingest marijuana or alcohol. Luna would then drill the apartment door shut and then rape the young victim, according to Ventura County District Attorney Gregory D. Totten.

Luna was facing a maximum of 91 years in prison, according to Totten. 

The case was investigated by the Ventura Police Department.
