Ventura man convicted of raping teen girl

Drilled door shut and raped victim

VENTURA, Calif. - A Ventura man was found guilty on Monday of multiple felony counts of forcible rape and other sex offenses on a minor.

Daniel Lee Luna, 41, was convicted by a jury of eight counts of forcible rape, three counts of oral copulation of a person under 16, one count of sexual penetration of a person under 16, and one count of lewd act upon a child. The victim was a minor who was 14 years of age or older at the time of the rapes.

Over several months in 2018, Luna took the minor victim back to his apartment and made her ingest marijuana or alcohol. Luna would then drill the apartment door shut and then rape the young victim, according to Ventura County District Attorney Gregory D. Totten.

Luna is set to appear in court on Sept. 5. He faces a maximum sentence of 91 years and 4 months in prison.
