Suspect search underway in the Turnpike Road area of Santa Barbara

Sheriffs deputies on the look out for...

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies spent the afternoon looking for a wanted young man between Turnpike Road and Walnut Avenue in an unincorporated part of Santa Barbara County.

Sgt. Jarrett Morris said they were looking for the same man on Sunday and when they tried to pull over a car he was in on Monday, he evaded arrest by running from the car left at an intersection on Rhodes Ave.

They took a woman in the car into custody and officers said they found meth and heroine during a search of the belongings in the car. They said she was on parole.

Sheriff K9 units and a helicopter could not locate the suspect they described as a Hispanic man with a shaved head, wearing glasses and possibly a black shirt.

Neighbor Isabel Thruston said she received a reverse 911 alert on her home phone. She was sorry to see the search going on in her neighborhood.

Deputies are asking the public to call 911 if you see the suspect, but do not approach him.
