Police chase through Santa Barbara streets and neighborhoods

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A police chase involving a dark-colored sedan went through various streets and neighborhoods in the City of Santa Barbara and ended in the 900 block area of Barcelona Drive in unincorporated Santa Barbara County just before 1 a.m.

NewsChannel 3 picked up the pursuit at about 12:30 a.m. as it went through areas of Santa Barbara's Eastside and the waterfront before reaching Las Positas Road, traveling into the Veronica Springs neighborhood and coming to a stop near Barcelona and Torino Drive.

Speeds on surface streets at times reached 85 mph. Police say no pedestrians were endangered and that streets were quiet at the time of the chase allowing officers to continue pursuing the suspect car.

Authorities say they arrested a 30-year-old woman, who has yet to be identified, in connection with the chase. She was charged with unlicensed driving, probation violations, and felony evading police.
