SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Santa Maria Police responded to the Town and Country Inn just after 10 p.m. Tuesday night after reports of a man with a gun at the hotel.
When police arrived, the 38-year-old man was in his hotel room and refused to cooperate with police, refusing to come out of the room.
Police set up a perimeter at Albertson's next door to the hotel. Visitors were evacuated and others were told to shelter in place.
After several hours, the man left the room and was placed into police custody.
Police have not identified the man. He will likely be charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
All visitors have returned to the hotel. No one was hurt.
