Man wounded in apparent drive-by shooting in Ventura

VENTURA, Calif. - The Ventura Police Department Command Center received several 911 calls of gunshots heard near Cameron Street and Cameron Court on Friday evening.

Officers responded to the area where a man had a single bullet wound. Police say he was taken to a local hospital. The injury was not life-threatening.

During the investigation, officers learned that the victim was at a party in the area where a verbal altercation took place. 

As the partygoers left, a dark colored sedan drove by and someone inside fired several rounds toward the crowd.

The man was struck while trying to get to a nearby vehicle.

Police say there is no suspect information at this time.
