GUADALUPE, Calif. - The Guadalupe Police Department is investigating a drive-by shooting that took place late Tuesday night near a Guadalupe park.
Police say the victim was recently released from jail, accused of sex crimes against a child.
The shooting was reported at around 11:30 p.m. in the area of Treasure Park near Obispo and Holly Streets.
Police made contact with the victim and learned that he was picking up a coworker when two men in an older model gray 4-door Nissan Maxima pulled up and blocked the victim's vehicle.
The two men were wearing hoodies covering their heads and faces and appeared to have been waiting for the victim, according to police.
The passenger in the suspect vehicle exited and began firing at the victim's vehicle. Police estimate about five shots were fired. Two bullets went through the windshield and struck neck rests and a third bullet struck the rear window.
The attackers then drove off south on Obispo Street.
No one was injured in the shooting.
Police say the victim had recently posted bail and was released from jail on suspicion of lewd acts with a child under the age of 14 and rape. It's unclear if the victim's arrest was connected to the shooting.
The shooting is under investigation.
