Deputies arrest attempted burglary suspect in Isla Vista

Isla Vista experiencing recent rash of burglaries

ISLA VISTA, Calif. - After a recent rash of burglaries in Isla Vista, law enforcement with the Isla Vista Foot Patrol arrested a 19-year-old for attempted burglary late Saturday night.

On Feb. 17 at about 10:20 p.m., authorities saw Isla Vista resident Christian Zanabria prowling in a parking lot between two apartment complexes in the 6600 block of Del Playa Drive, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office says Zanabria was wearing all dark clothing, black gloves and had a backpack that he had discarded nearby as deputies approached him. The backpack was located near a ground level bedroom window which investigators say had a screen with a one-foot wide slash in it.

Zanabria was arrested and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail for attempted burglary. His bail was set at $50,000 dollars.
