Argument may have led to deadly confrontation in Oxnard

Police investigating city's 10th homicide of 2018

OXNARD, Calif. - Police are investigating Oxnard's tenth homicide of 2018.

On Tuesday evening, Oxnard Police responded to reports of a person in the street and possible gunshots heard on Camino Del Sol between Rice Avenue and Maulhardt Avenue.

When officers arrived on scene, they located a man on the street. Emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene. He has been identified as 19-year-old Ventura County resident Luis Ramirez.

Detectives believe Ramirez and someone from another car got into an argument while in the northbound lanes on Rice Avenue just before the shooting occurred.

Oxnard Police Department Major Crimes detectives are looking for any witnesses who may have seen a blue sedan driving erratically on Rice Avenue at about 7 p.m. August 7, 2018.
