LOMPOC, Calif. - A commercial cannabis grow that was near the site of Wednesday's vegetation fire near Lompoc was raided by sheriff's deputies later that night.
The fire burned about 17 acres along Sweeney Road and firefighters were able to protect the cannabis cultivation site from burning down.
After the fire was contained, law enforcement began looking into the site and discovered it was unregistered and operating illegally without a state license.
At around 10 p.m. Wednesday night, Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies served a warrant at the site and eradicated 1800 plants that were in various stages of growth. They also seized 100 pounds of processed marijuana.
The investigation is ongoing.
