On Wednesday, around 3:45 p.m, a witness called into the Lompoc Police Department to report he saw a "white adult male" pointing a gun at vehicles and at him near River Park.
Officers arrived at the area of Hwy 246 and Sweeney as the witness updated dispatch the man was seen running towards the Bridge House Homeless Shelter. The Bridge House was called and put on lock down.
Lomoc Police Deparment officers found the victim in this case and he reported the man, who was later identified as Harry Lawson, attempted to rob him at gun point.
The victim did not give up any of his property and Lawson fled. The witness saw the incident and notified law enforcement. Both Santa Barbara Sheriff's County Office Lompoc Police assisted.
Lompoc Police later went to the Bridge House to make sure Lawson did not make it to the shelter. While getting ready to search, Santa Barbara Sheriff's dispatch advised the subject in question, Lawson, was on the phone and ready to surrender.
Lawson eventually came out of the Bridge House and was detained until he was identified as the person involved. Lawson was arrested and booked into the LPD jail for attempted robbery.
A replica hand gun was located during the incident, however it is not known if it was used during the commission of the crime.
