Kelsey Gerckens joined the KEYT-KCOY-KKFX team in 2010. She is our weekday Weather Anchor for The Morning News from 5-7 a.m., KKFX from 7-8 a.m. and KEYT Midday.

Kelsey spent several years working as a reporter for KEYT. She switched to weather full-time after finding that her favorite stories to cover were always weather related.  She has been honored with two Golden Mike Awards for Best Weather Segment.  She also was nominated for an Emmy for best Weather Anchor after her coverage of the Thomas Fire.

As a third generation Venturan, Kelsey is thrilled to be working and reporting on stories that matter to her community.  As a reporter, Kelsey reported live out in the field covering everything from the Solimar Fire and Camarillo Springs debris flow to Presidential visits and even had the honor of flying with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.  Kelsey has received two regional Emmy’s for her work on-air at KEYT covering the Thomas Fire as well as the Refugio Oil Spill.  She received an individual Golden Mike for Spot News Coverage of the Ventura Oil Spill.

Kelsey received her B.S. in Broadcast Journalism and minor in Psychology from California Polytechnic State University.  She is also furthering her education by studying meteorology.  She is expected to complete her Bachelors of Science degree in Meteorology from Mississippi State University in the coming year.

Kelsey considers her biggest accomplishment winning the CBS reality show "The Amazing Race" with her husband Joey.  During this 21-day competition, Kelsey and Joey raced around the world against 10 other teams performing various challenges.  They traveled to 10 countries across five continents going more than 34,000 miles to win the race and $1 million prize.

Kelsey spends her free time traveling the world with her husband, spending time with her family, friends and Goldendoodle Jeter and exploring the hiking trails and amazing restaurants this beautiful place we call home has to offer.
