United Way looks to different demographics to help its programs

Young leaders get the pitch

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The United Way is hoping to interest a new wave of supporters to its programs and fundraising.

Wednesday night a special mixer with the Young Leaders Society was held at Pure Order Brewing.
The United way programs for children, education and literacy were among the topics presented.

Canada, with the United Way says there’s clearly plenty for young people to contribute either alone or with their companies.
The organization says it will help the community and directly make a direct difference in people's lives.

“Hearing about new things, some of the ones that are deciding to give, deciding after this night that they want to contribute as the year goes on,  this group continues to stay involved,” said Joshua Canada with United Way.  He says there are many volunteering opportunities for direct programs and fundraising.
