Matt Garza pitches 1st no-hitter

Former Santa Barbara Foresters Matt Garza pitched the first no-hitter in Tampa Bay Rays history July 26th, beating the Detroit Tigers 5 - 0. Matt was with the Foresters 2004 before being chosen in the first round of 2005 Major League Baseball Draft, drafted by the Minnesota Twins. Matt pitched for the 2008 Tampa Bay Rays team that clinched its first World Series berth in franchise history after years of failure. Matt was named 2008 ALCS MVP for his efforts in the series. Matt attended Washington Union High School and Fresno State University.
