One beautiful Friday afternoon, my boyfriend and I went to El Capitan beach just north of Santa Barbara. We were only there for about an hour or so, soaking in the sun, when a seal came out of the water and onto the beach. I was only a few feet away from it, and wanted to get closer, but my boyfriend reminded me that it was a wild animal, no matter how adorable it is, so I decided to back away. It eventually went back into the water for a while, but came out onto the sand several times. Almost as if it was showing off for everyone gathering by. After a few minutes, it swam down the coast and out of sight, but left a lasting impression on everyone at the beach. It certainly made my day.

Good point, Adventurer. Also, if you get close enough to change an animal's behavior, even if it is just the animal turning to look at you, you are too close. Observe from afar and keep them wild.

Sweetgrass, the point of not having contact with wild animals is so that they don't become familiar with humans feeding them and touching them. They don't actually learn to dominate humans but, we should not dominate them either! Just let them be.

the truth is a humane should place fear into the wild animal, other wise it will learn to dominate the human.
