TWO NEW COMMUNITY CLASSES FROM TLF

Total Life Fitness, a Buellton based Non Profit Organization, has started two new martial arts programs offered to both the Santa Ynez Valley and Los Alamos

Total Life Fitness is proud to announce two new community based martial arts programs: An Arthritis Foundation Tai Chi class in the Santa Ynez Valley and a community based Kenpo Karate class in Los Alamos. The Tai Chi program is being lead by Sharon Harmon- a valley resident and Arthritis Foundation Class instructor for many years.

Arthritis Foundation Tai Chi Program® is designed to improve the quality of life for people with arthritis using Sun style Tai Chi, one of the four major recognized styles of Tai Chi. This style includes agile steps and exercises that may improve mobility, breathing and relaxation. The movements don't require deep bending or squatting, which makes it easier and more comfortable to learn.
The program itself consists of 12 movements — 6 basic and 6 advanced — a warm up and a cool down. Once becoming familiar with the 12 movements, the program is designed to provide continual challenge by reversing the direction of the movements.
The Kenpo Karate program in Los Alamos, is open and accepting students of all, ages from 7- adult. Classes are being held on Monday afternoons at Olga Reed Elementary and offered by donation only.
“Both of our programs are designed to meet the needs of the communities they serve.” Says Josh Grant “the Santa Ynez valley does have some Arthritis Foundation Exercise programs, but Sharon is the only instructor in the Valley who is trained and running classes in the AF Tai Chi curriculum. This class is the perfect alternative for those who may find our regular Tai Chi class to physically strenuous.”
Mr. Grant goes on to say “ We are also offering a community based Kenpo Karate program at Olga Reed Elementary. We we’re approached by concerned parents that, because of school cuts, the children at Olga Reed were losing some of their structured programming. We approached Olga Reed about doing classes and they were amiable. Keeping with our core philosophy, we offer the class by donation only.”

It's so nice to see people who are actually helping their communities! So many kids and seniors programs have been cut these days, I'm happy to see SOMEBODY is being proactive!
