January 22nd, 2010- Jason Elliot, a local Mixed Martial Artist TKO's opponent in the second round.
MMA welterweight contender weighing in at for his catchweight fight at 175 pounds and standing 5‘10”, Jason Elliot dominated his opponent, Luke Heebner (5'10", 172 lbs) from Northern California, and eventually leading to the referee stopping the fight due to “Verbal Tapout” by his opponent in a minute and 45 seconds of the second round.
Having trained for only a year in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu in Santa Barbara, Jason began training for this fight 3 weeks prior with the MMA instructor for The Dojo in Buellton, Mat Painter-who last august TKO’d his opponent in 44 seconds at a Las Vegas fight.
Jason Elliot’s manager Josh Grant states "Jason came to us three works before the fight needing additional work. Mat (Painter) spent practically every day with him working on his stand up game and perfecting his jiu-jitsu. We took Jason down with us to Valhalla ETC and Mike MacDonald in Santa Barbara. Between the training and the generosity of his sponsors- the Vitamin and Herb Store in Buellton, protienfactory.com, and Total Life Fitness- Jason’s victory was nothing short of predictable."
Jason states: “I knew I was ready for this fight. I trained hard and tightened up the holes in my game. Josh brought in experts, like Brian Wallace- the SYVHS wrestling coach- and Jason Schmidt, 4th degree black belt in Kung Fu San Soo and 2nd degree Judo black belt, to really sharpen my skills. It paid off. It all paid off.”
This fight was produce by Stand Up Fighters (www.standupfighters.com) and was held at the Radisson Hotel, in Sacramento, CA. For more information on Jason Elliot, Mat Painter, or The Dojo, please contact Josh Grant at josh@dojomartialarts.com or 805-688-0789
