On Saturday night, January 23rd, 2010 a former America's Next Top Model contestant and current Moorpark College student was named Miss Ventura County 2010. Ebony Taylor is currently working on her second year at Moorpark where she remains a competitive member of their nationally recognized speech and debate program. Last year as a Freshman at Moorpark College, Ebony took home top honors at the State and National level. She currently holds two national titles in Poetry Interpretation as well as Programed Oral Interpretation.
Prior to competing for the title of Miss Ventura County Ebony was a contestant on the CW's long running hit show America's Next Top Model where she secured a spot in the top 12 while still just a high school senior! Following her success on the show Ebony worked and traveled before deciding to return to school and the sport she loves; debate.
At the annual Miss Ventura County pageant Ebony received not only the title and crown but was also selected Miss Congeniality by her fellow competitors.
Unlike many assumptions we hold about beauty queens, Ebony will not actually be able to wear a crown during her reign; she's bald and loving it! At the young age of 21 she made the decision to cut all her hair off because she was simply, "tired of doing it" anymore.
As Miss Ventura County she plans to promote her platform, "Education through Competition" - Urban Debate Leagues, a group she works with regularly. In addition Ebony will be gearing up for the Miss California pageant this July set to take place in Fresno, the winner will go on to compete for Miss America.
