The Agoura High School Competition Team were finalists at the ESPN UCA High School Nationals, 2008, as well as pictured on the cover of the program, and featured in the introduction to the event on television!
The team competed under the direction of their Coaches, Eileen McGrew, and Matt Goldberg.
This amazing event is held each year at Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida, with the finals taking place at the 'Milk House' facility at the Wide World of Sports. Many of the Charger parents also made the trip to cheer on the Team!
The Charger Girls finished as the top California Cheerleading Team at the competition and 13th in the nation, that is attended by over 20,000 cheerleaders from all over the United States.
This year the performing Team Members at the High School Nationals, 2008 were:
Genevieve Bryant, Alexis Buswell, Lyndsy Cappon, Kayla Milgrim, Taryn Rasgon, Sean Batt, Kristin Elliott, Alison Goldman, Laura Johnston, Laurel Klein, Kaci Murnane and Sarah Schur.
The Agoura Competition Team also competed with the entire Team of over 50 Charger Girls, in their 7 time USA National Champion 'Crowdleading' routine. This paves the way for football season where their skills translate to the football track. The Spirit Team is renowned for their wowing the Charger crowd with cheers, stunts, and dance routines.
Their Coach, Eileen McGrew and Advisor, Vicki Koch are beginning their 19th year with the Team, which began in May 2008, and will continue with sporting events, school support and competition until April of 2009!
The successful program has produced opportunities for continuing after high school. Graduates have gone on to be professional staff members/coaches and teacher-coaches They have been succeeded as college cheerleaders/dancers, and collegiate national champions. In addition, alumni have also been a Laker Girl, Washington Wizard Dancer, San Diego Charger Girl, San Francisco Gold Rush girl, and Golden State Warrior Girl..to name a few.
The Charger Girls are looking forward to continuing their proud tradition supporting the Agoura High School sports teams, as well as competing for 2008-09!
