ONE THOUSAND GATHER TO TAKE ACTION

A broad-base of community organizations, labor unions and faith communities have joined forces to organize the United for Action: Faith, Values and Democracy Public meeting on Sunday, October 12 at 3pm. Led by CAUSE’s Central Coast Organizing Project and La Hermandad, the United for Action Coalition will bring together residents and elected officials to take action on key issues affecting the communities of the Central Coast region. The meeting will create opportunities for elected officials to listen to and ally with residents.

Issues on the agenda:
ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE—Halaco, Proposed Peaker Plant
YOUTH JUSTICE—NO on CA Prop 6: Yes to Education, No to Incarceration!
IMMIGRATION REFORM—Comprehensive Immigration Reform and the Dream Act

Congresswoman Lois Capps has confirmed attendance at the meeting as well as local and state elected officials.

Mexicans have been taught in Mexico and in their own local cultures here that they are their own race and life is them against the world, so the broad-base is their own culture/race with representatives of those kinds of organizations mentioned.

I am a little north of the area there, and came across this article. The children in the picture seem to be all hispanic. I wonder what this is all about?
